Big impact, small project. Build your skills with this four hour workshop—an introduction to quilting with upcycled fabrics. Beginning sewists to experienced quilters will learn how to go from clothing to quilted pillow top, with an overview of techniques for working with fabrics from previously loved pieces.
The small (16-20” square) project is perfect to test-drive the techniques before launching into a full-sized upcycled quilt or memory quilt project, or stand alone as a mini quilt that breathes new life into old items.

Capture meaningful moments by creating your own memory quilt. In this workshop novice to experienced quilters will learn and explore modern memory quilting techniques: from memory keeping, empathy + design, and telling your story through colour, to starching and fabric stabilization, managing bulk, working with different fabrics and fussy-cutting. The workshop will take place in 3 hour sessions over four weeks, leaving time for homework and quilt design contemplation in between.
At the end of the 12 hour workshop, speedy quilters with quick decision making skills will have a completed a 45” x 60” quilt top and/or quilt. While more moderately paced quilters and those who prefer to spend more time working through the design process or taking more time with the emotional component of memory quilting will have completed part of their quilt top, and have acquired the knowledge and skills to complete their project in their own time.
